Stockton Real Estate Stockton got it's start when Captain Charles Maria Weber, a German immigrant, decided to try his hand at gold mining in late 1848, but soon discovered that serving the needs of gold seekers was a more profitable opportunity. He founded Stockton in 1849 when he purchased over 49,000 acres of land through a Spanish Land Grant. The city was officially incorporated on 7/23/1850. The city of Stockton was named after Commodore Robert F. Stockton. Stockton's population as of 2007 was 300,079 and has a projected population of 304,105 by 2010. Stockton is the 13th largest city in the state and ranked 71st nationally. Stockton is located 25 miles west of the Sierra Nevada foothills, 49 miles south of Sacramento and 82 miles east of California's bay area. Stockton is connected to the rest of the nation through an extensive network of railways. Amtrak and the Altamont Commuter Express (ACE) both make stops in Stockton. As of May 2008 the median price of a home in Stockton was $228,000.
Lathrop Real Estate
Lathrop sits between Tracy and Stockton just west of Manteca. It's population as of 2006 was 14,625. It is located in the metro triangle, which is bound by the bay area, Stockton and sacramento. Lathrop is centrally located within a 30 minute commute of Tracy, Manteca, Stockton, Lodi, Modesto, Livermore and Pleasanton.
Manteca Real Estate
Manteca was connected to Tracy by the Central Pacific Railroad and founded by Joshua Cowell who claimed about 1000 acres. Manteca was incorporated as a city in 1918 and was originally named "Monteca". However an unfortunate misprinting of the train tickets caused the city's name to show as "Manteca". Since it would have been too expensive and difficult to reprint the tickets, the name of the city was changed instead. As of 2006 the population of Manteca was 63,716 with a projection of 75,375 by 2010. Manteca is located 76 miles from San Fransisco and a 2 hour commute to the Sierra Nevadas. As of 2007 the median home value was $385,000
